The Congress Committee and the Educational Committee are pleased to be able to announce that Doctor Maria Walker has been awarded a full Founders’ Award to attend and present at the 45th ISCLS Congress in Edinburgh. Hailing from the MetroHealth Center, Division of Ophthalmology in Cleveland ,Ohio , Maria says:

“I am excited to join the group at the prestigious meeting of the international society of contact lens specialists this year. I have continuously heard my mentors and colleagues praise the organization and the work of those that make this meeting possible. It will be an honor to attend and present at this meeting with these international scholars.”

Maria will be presenting two papers on Saturday and Monday morning entitled  ‘Evaluation of Tear Film Reservoir of fluid in Habitual Scleral Contact Lens Wearers’  and ‘Corneal Thickness Changes During Scleral Lens Wearers.’ Maria tells us that these are her two favourite research areas. ISCLS President Doctor Richard Davis says ‘I am  delighted that my  Council agreed to make a Founders’ award this year and to such a worthy recipient. This award fund was set up by an initial bequest from our Founder Wilhelm Soenges and topped up by Congress surpluses over the years.’
