Biography
David W. Hansen, OD, FAAO

Dr. Hansen is a graduate of the University of Iowa and the Illinois College of Optometry. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD). He is also a Diplomate of the Cornea, Contact Lens, and Refractive Technology Section of the American Academy of Optometry, and is a Distinguished Practitioner in the National Academy of Practices. He has served as a board member and past president of the Heart of America Contact Lens Society. Dr. Hansen was on the editorial board for the Optometric Management journal and a contributing editor of Contact Lens Spectrum. He was a consultant for many contact lens, medical device, equipment and pharmaceutical companies. His major areas of interest include contact lenses, ocular diseases and pediatric vision problems. He conducted clinical research, wrote for professional publications, lectured nationally and internationally, and was in clinical practice in Des Moines, Iowa. While in practice, he was a partner in a multi-specialty group practice and then established a multi-specialty group Optometric practice with full services, including comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of vision conditions with emphasis in ocular disease, including glaucoma; advanced treatment of contact lens and corneal conditions; pediatric care with vision therapy and sports vision rehabilitation.

He served as Head, Global Professional Services for Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. and Abbott Medical Optics Inc. (AMO) in Santa Ana, CA for 10 years. He is now a consultant in the Ophthalmic Industry globally.

This project produced a novel microbiology measurement acclaimed by many to change FDA testing for medical devices and pharmaceutical products. It increased sales of RevitaLens CL care products significantly, produced over $3 M net sales revenue in December, 2013, and the program grew plan.
